What are earwigs bugs?
Earwigs are insects that belong to the phylum Arthropoda and order Dermaptera. Earwigs bugs are widely spread across Australia, America, Asia and Eurasia. Till now 1,800 species and 12 families of earwigs bugs have been explored. They have a pair of forceps like pincers on the distal part of their abdomen and membranous wings attached to their skin. The wings are also known as appendages. If we observe their anatomy, we shall find the hind wings clearly folded below the leathery fore wings. Some species of earwig bugs are devoid of wings and therefore they are not capable of flying. The forceps like pincers are known as cerci, and serve as an organ of defense along with being used for various purposes like folding of wings and capturing prey.
