What is an IEP or a 504 plan?
An IEP (Individual Educational Program) or a 504 plan is a written plan designed specifically for an eligible child. It is a written agreement between you and your child’s school detailing how your child will be educated. An IEP contains three parts: Present levels, goals, and services. All three parts of the IEP must be written correctly in order for your child to have a comprehensive, effective IEP. A poorly written IEP or 504 plan will weaken and diminish your child’s educational program. A 504 plan addresses accommodations/modifications for your child to have “equal access” to school based services. What does an educational consultant do at an IEP meeting? We will attend your child’s IEP or 504 meeting with you to ensure that the school team discusses all pertinent information.
