Does RAM make my computer faster?
More RAM will definitely help applications open faster, and let you keep more programs open without your system slowing down I can’t give you an exact percentage for the performance boost, as it depends on several factors besides the RAM, such as what version of Windows you’re running, and how many programs are running in the background when you start Windows. As an example, though, I did help one friend upgrade the RAM in her laptop from 256MB to 768MB, and she was amazed at the difference – her startup time for the laptop was nearly cut in half, and applications opened in a few seconds, instead of waiting…and waiting…
