Why do Yoyo accounts get suspended?
Unfortunately many people’s first contact with the security group comes after their Yoyo account is suspended. This is one of our more unpleasant tasks, but sometimes it is necessary. When a member of the security group believes that a Yoyo account is being used in a way that contravenes any of the regulations, they are required to: • Take action to prevent such misuse from continuing. It may be necessary to suspend the Yoyo account to prevent further misuse. • Notify the owner of the Yoyo account. • Discuss the matter with the owner of the Yoyo account. • Determine any penalty or other action to be taken. During 1996, the Top 5 reasons why Yoyo accounts were suspended were: • Mudding outside Monash • Yoyo account user was not the owner • Software piracy • Compiling hacked programs • Spamming Mudding outside Monash Access to MUDs outside the *.monash.edu.au domains is prohibited from Yoyo.
