How Do You Become An Automotive Painter?
Automotive painters work on all kinds of vehicles, from motorcycles to school buses. Some work in autobody shops, painting older vehicles that have just been repaired or that have simply lost their lustre. Others work on production lines, painting new vehicles. Take several high school courses that relate to this position, if possible. Suggested courses include creative arts, business, automotive technology, manufacturing and industrial technology and computers. Apply to a certification program in college. Certification is voluntary, but it’s still an attractive qualification to potential employers. To become certified, you must complete an apprenticeship that combines classroom instruction with on-the-job experience.The apprenticeship period usually lasts two to three years.
