Can Lymphoedema be cured?
There is currently no cure for lymphoedema. It is a progressive condition that without therapeutic management may gradually worsen. Early identification of symptoms and preventative treatment may minimise this progress. Lymphoedema itself is not a life threatening condition. However, if left untreated, limbs can become extremely large and heavy. This leads to loss of mobility, discomfort, pain, and due to the protein rich swelling, may be a breeding ground for bacteria and prone to infection which is very difficult to treat.
