Who Attacked the USS Cole?

GENE RANDALL, CNN ANCHOR: Now we return to the USS Cole investigation and events in the Middle East. James Woolsey is with us. He’s a lawyer and former director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Mr. Woolsey, good to see you again. JAMES WOOLSEY, FORMER DIRECTOR, CIA: Good to be with you. RANDALL: When one talks about terrorism in Yemen, do some groups immediately come to mind? WOOLSEY: Bin Laden comes to mind because his group has a presence there. Several terrorist groups do. The Yemeni government has not been particularly tough in keeping them out, although it’s not really thought of be a state sponsor of terrorism. Something else comes to mind, which is Iraq. The possibility — the Cole was on the way to the Persian Gulf to enforce the sanctions against Iraq and it’s entirely possible that some of these terrorist incidents that previously have looked to have
