There are two distinct ways to buy a website address. The first is to buy a new domain name–one that is not currently in use–to on which to place a new website. The second is to buy an existing website address from someone who already has a website. Buying a new domain name is generally far less expensive than purchasing one from an existing website owner; however, if you buy an existing website, you will not need to create a website to place at the address. Visit a domain registrar such as GoDaddy, Register.com or HostMonster. You will first have to search to see if your desired domain name (website address) is available; if not, the registrar will offer some suggestions for alternatives, or you may search for a different domain name.
