A common problem for cell phone users is the unintentional operation of the phone when it is placed in a pocket, purse or other carrying bag. The Nextel I860 was designed with a keypad lock to prevent accidental button presses. When the lock is enabled, the buttons are disabled and do not operate the phone. In order to operate the phone, you need to unlock it. Press the “Menu” button on the phone. The “Menu” button is located to the left of the left arrow button and has a symbol of a piece of notebook paper on it. Push the “*” button on the phone keypad to unlock the phone. The keypad is now unlocked and you can use it normally. Lock the keypad again by repeating Steps 1 and 2.
