What is the best satin?
Satin is a woven material and it is the way it is woven that gives it that luxuriously shiny look. Some products are ‘knitted’ and this method of manufacture creates a rather rough texture. The fibers used for weaving satin are acetate, nylon, polyester and silk. Silk bedding is expensive and worth every cent if you’ve got lots to splash around, which is probably why many of the famous stars in Hollywood such as Cameron Díaz love to sleep in it. Seriously though, you can find cheaper qualities of silk; but it also requires considerable laundering care, as doe’s acetate. You will be safe – and probably very happy – if you stick to 100% woven polyester or nylon. You will see Carmeuse Satin on many sites – sometimes called satin silk. It is a sensual fabric that looks and feels silky; it drapes beautifully.
