Only Quality red wines will get better with age in the bottle. Most wines you find in the stores today are meant to be drank within a few months as they are at there peak. Most fruit wines will only be drinkable for 2 to 3 years, white wines will stay drinkable if stored under proper conditions, for 3 to 5 years, your average red will be very drinkable for about 5 to 9 years from the vintage date (different for m the release date as some wines are aged by the Winery before release for sale to the public) High quality Red wines can go for as much as 12 to 30 years from the vintage date and be absolutely wonderful, but if not stored in optimum conditions that life can be drastically shortened. Those conditions are as follows for both white and red wines, 1 keep out of direct sun light.
