Can rabbits share a cage?

You can keep litter mates (males and females) together until they are about three months but do not push it past this age or fighting and/or mating may occur. I’ve found that I can put separate litters together if I move them all to a new cage at the same time. Otherwise territorial issues develop and the newcomers suffer. At the three month mark you can still keep animals together if you separate the bucks from the does. The bucks will usually be okay up until at least four months and sometimes five months. Sepate them if aggressive bucks start dominating their subordinates or if they start humping each other – either way trouble is just around the corner so break it up early. Does are better about getting along with each other. I have kept does in community cages up to five months routinely without problems. They too will sometimes start humping each other and sometimes dominate the smaller animals so be ready to separate if needed.
