Management plan review provides an opportunity for sanctuary staff and the public to shape the future direction and management of the sanctuary. At this time, it is too early to say what changes may occur at OCNMS as a result of the Management Plan Review process. Any changes will depend, in part, on program priorities and comments received during the public scoping meetings. The preliminary priority topics represent our current judgment of the most important issues NOAA should consider in preparation of a new OCNMS management plan. However, during MPR, the sanctuary will receive and respond to priorities suggested by the public, organizations, and other government agencies. We will then evaluate and possibly revise our current operation and management framework, as well as our resource protection, education, research programs, and site-specific regulations.
