Is tree climbing safe for kids?
Children naturally love to climb trees. They will select a tree with numerous branches and take to the heights. For most, exploration is the big draw. But to others, a tree’s shelter may be a place to hide out and be alone. The first climbs by children are usually done without the safety of tree climbing equipment. Sometimes accidents occur — bruises are common, and sometimes bones get broken. These are the risks of almost every childhood activity! At schools run by TCI-trained teachers, safety is our number one priority. Every climber is “hooked in” to the rope at all times, so there is no danger of falling out of the tree. Furthermore, all climbers (and everyone under the tree) are required to wear a helmet. TCI follows many additional safety protocols to ensure that nobody gets hurt. This makes tree climbing with us an extremely safe activity.
