Can I convert my current mp3’s to the TwinVQ format? It is possible, yes, but we don’t recommend it. TwinVQ files encoded from raw cd audio have a higher quality than mp3’s do, and when you compress the mp3 audio data into TwinVQ you’re basically getting an mp3 with a lower filesize, minus the extra quality TwinVQ gives. We call TwinVQ files encoded directly from ripped (not recorded) cd-audio “Virgin VQ’s”, whilst calling the lower quality converted mp3’s “Dirty VQ’s”. There is a distinct difference, and most will actually be able to tell the difference just by listening to the files. What bitrates can TwinVQ handle?
