Who issues bail bonds?
Who issues a bail bonds?
It all starts with the initial arrest. Say for example some gets arrested in Calabasas, CA for stealing items at the Commons. The arresting officer will be the one issuing Calabasas Bail Bonds. The officer assigns a Penal Code to the defendant.
In this case the penal code is PC 484. Each offense has a penal code for it and each penal code has a dollar amount attached to it. This dollar amount it the bail amount. For a first offense petty theft, PC 484, the bail amount is $1000.
So, when the officer assigns a penal code to the violation for the defendant, that is when the bail bonds amount is issued, in this case we are looking at a $1000 bail.
At this point, the defendant is sitting in jail with a bail of $1000. This is when the bail bonds agent has the opportunity to go ahead and issue a Calabasas bail bonds for the defendant so that they can be freed from jail.
The defendant is actually free from jail, but not free to venture anywhere. He is what’s called, "out on bail". The defendant has the responsibility to attend all the necessary court dates. If this commitment is upheld, the defendant will no longer be responsible for the $1000 Calabasas bail bonds.
At this point the bail bonds is what’s called, "exonerated". Which means that the case is over the the bond no longer holds any more responsibilities to either the court, the bail bonds agent, or the defendant.
