If you setup one machine at a time on your network then you don’t need DHCP for the JACAL bootdisk. However, then you lose many of the benefits of JACAL such as being able to build many machines simultaneously. You will have to retune the bootdisk and recompile the kernel, but there isn’t much more to disabling DHCP than that.
