How Do You Participate In Flyball?
Many people participate in flyball with their dogs. This increasingly popular dog sport consists of a four-dog relay team. One dog leaps four hurdles, hits the spring loaded box that shoots a ball into the air, he catches it and heads back over the four hurdles. When he crosses the finish line, his teammate takes a turn. The teams compete in tournaments to achieve the fastest time. Flyball is fast paced fun whether you compete or just do it to get some exercise. Take your dog through a positive reinforcement obedience training program. Be sure to address paying attention to you and recall. Practice obedience training with distractions. If your dog did not naturally pick up retrieving as a puppy, train him to do so. If he does not seem to understand, consult a professional trainer or pick up a book on the subject.
