It will take time for both you and your stepchildren to get used to the changes and new routines that are taking place in your lives. The most important thing you can do is give yourself and them plenty of time to adjust. Be patient. If your stepchildren are not warming up to you as easily as you would like exercise patience. You can’t force a relationship with them and if you try to you will only push them further away. Let them come to you on their own and let the relationship develop naturally. Reassure your stepchildren that you are not trying to replace their mother or father.
