How does WAP work?
As a WAP user, your WAP enabled GSM handset uses its built-in mini browser (something like Netscape and Microsoft Internet Explorer but a lot smaller in size) to make a request in WML language in which the WAP pages are written. The request is passed to a sophisticated WAP computer called the WAP gateway that retrieves the information from the Internet or from a Local Content Computer. The information is then sent from the WAP gateway to your WAP handset. WAP provides access to interactive information and services from the handsets of WAP subscribers, providing them the freedom to access anything, anytime and anywhere.
