What is a nail overlay?
A nail overlay is just another name for an acrylic nail. Most the time when they say overlay, they are referring to applying the acrylic to your natural nail only. Typically just straight overlays do not have the plastic tip glued to the nail for length. Overlays can last just as long as full sets using tips. However if they are not done correctly, they will chip, crack or pop off after only a day or two. I suggest getting a full set of acrylics with tips. They last longer and can take more abuse like doing yard work, typing, and doing dishes. A full set generally costs $20-40 depending on where you go.
