What are Lavalier Microphones?
“Alright, so now I’m going to talk about my favorite microphone, the Lavalier. Basically, it’s the way I shoot, I’m typically shooting one person talking, almost interview style, but not always, and the Lavalier microphone is perfect for that. Wireless, I don’t have to worry about any cables dragging from the person to my microphone, and it picks up fantastic sound just in the general area around that person, which is them talking, obviously. Here’s my wireless Lav. set down here. It’s a really great set, I really like it. It’s very small and, basically, it’s working on radio frequencies to connect wirelessly. Then you have this little tiny microphone that connects to our receiver right here, excuse me, our transmitter. This will attach to somebody’s belt and then they’ll run the microphone up their shirt.
