RYDER CUP HELP?
Paul Azinger was named United States Ryder Cup captain on Monday in a move as shocking as the sun rising in the morning. What came as a big stunner was that, per Azinger’s request, the points system for qualifying for the American team changed as dramatically as Jerry Jones’ face. The gist of the new system, which according to Azinger, was conceived in an 11-person group, is that everything done in a Ryder Cup year is important. Everything else teeters on the brink of irrelevance. Here is the new point system: * There will be one-quarter point for every $1,000 earned from August 27- November 5, 2006. * There will be one point for every $1,000 earned in the 2007 major championships. * There will be one point for every $1,000 earned in the “official events” in 2008 from January 1- August 11, except for a few events – (two points for every $1,000 earned in 2008 major championships and one-half point for every $1,000 earned in events played opposite the 2008 major championships and World G
