If you live within USDA hardiness zones 2 through 9 and have well-drained soil that receives plenty of daytime sun, you can plant red currant tomatoes in your garden. Test your soil. The red currant tomato prefers acidic soil with a pH between 5.5 and 7.0. You can determine the acidity of your soil using a soil pH testing kit. Soil testing kits are available at a garden center or plant nursery. Amend the soil before planting your red currant tomatoes.
