What Lured Immigrants to Canada?
Canada is perceived to be a nation welcoming to immigrants from all over the world. Indeed, immigrants play an important part of Canadian history. The first European settlers were French and British. Chinese immigrants helped build the railways. American slaves found freedom in Ontario by way of the underground railroad. It was opportunity, employment, and liberty that brought—and continues to bring—immigrants to Canada.
