What are distributed DoS attacks?
Distributed DoS attacks are an interesting phenomena. The premise goes like this: • Attacker compromises 500 computers • Attacker installs special software to listen for commands and send massive loads of packets • Attacker uses special client software to send commands to 500 computers to direct them to flood a victim network There are already several such tools available, such as Trinoo, TFN2K, and stacheldraht.
