Teams for all Galas are posted on the Notice Board & it is essential that swimmers confirm their availability as early as possible. Teams for each League Gala are selected by the Head Coach, on the basis of merit, although most swimmers will generally get a swim.

• A: Every effort is made to create equal teams. Teams are selected through a random draw. Coaches attend “draw night” and draw players blindly from an envelope. Envelopes are sorted by talent level for older ages. For younger ages, players are sorted by “very energetic” or “less energetic”.

Teams are formed based on the region (school and residence information), age and sex provided on the registration form. Coaches will use the player s evaluation to make sure teams in the same division within a region are fairly even in skill level, if there is more than one team per age division.

A. Up to three tryout sessions are offered in late July and early August. Tryouts are conducted and evaluated by several coaches (not just team’s coach) and selections are made by mid August. Usually a full 18 man roster is not selected completely, rather spots are held open for players to earn a rostered position during the early training months of the upcoming season.
