What makes a green card interview be denied?

Assuming all of the above is true, you really shouldn’t have a problem. Since your father is the principle applicant, neither you or your other family members would be considered eligible until your father’s visa is approved, because the rest of the family would be considered derivative beneficiaries. You only have to prove your relationship to your father to qualify, usually a birth certificate is all that is required to do that. Otherwise, there are a few exceptions that might trip you up. Here’s hoping none apply. If you were married before the interview took place, you would no longer be eligible for a visa as your father’s dependent. If you had some previous visa ineligibility, based on a previous application or entry in the US, that might do it. If you fail to pass the immigration physical because you have a communicable disease, like active TB or leprosy, that might do it.
