Does SOAP support amnesty?
[TOP] No. SOAP has no position on amnesty. Our mission is to oppose prejudice. We are not an immigration group, or an Hispanic group. We are a diverse group of concerned Elgin citizens representing the entire community in confronting racism in all of its forms. Unfortunately, anti-Hispanic, anti-immigrant prejudice is the most abundant form of prejudice currently harming our community, so we’ve decided to start with a petition drive on this issue. Of course, some of SOAP’s individual members may have opinions, as individuals, regarding amnesty – or any other issue – but they do not speak for the organization at such times.
