Who is MWD?
Metropolitan Water District (MWD) was formed in 1927 for the purpose of importing supplemental water to Southern California. MWD consists of 27 member cities and water agencies. MWDs imported supplies are obtained from its Colorado River Aqueduct and the State Water Project. Water delivered to Orchard Dale Water District is treated at the Diemer Plant in Yorba Linda, California. The filtration plant is the operational headquarters for the Orange County Branch of MWD. The plant operates continuously to provide water to the following member agencies: City of Anaheim, City of Fullerton, City of Long Beach, City of Santa Ana, West Basin Municipal Water District, Coastal Municipal Water District, Municipal Water District of Orange County, and the Central Basin Municipal Water District. The Diemer Plant treats a blend of water from the Colorado River, Lake Matthews Reservoir, and the State Water Project.
