Operating a home based daycare can be a little chaotic and tough at times. But it can be rewarding for someone that wants their own business. It is a great alternative for parents wanting their children in a smaller and more personalized environment. Having numerous children in your home at once is not easy, but it can be successful with some structure and guidance. Set your hours. If you do not want to run a 24 hour daycare and you want time off then set open hours and stick to them. Write a contract. Have rules and guidelines for both the parents and the children to follow. This can include rules regarding payday and your pay rate, sick policy, late fees and any other issues that are important for you to run your childcare efficiently. Have a set schedule for each day.
