What is Wheeler Plaza?
Wheeler Plaza is a 1.7 acre site owned by the City that is located one block west of El Camino Real, immediately southwest of the intersection of San Carlos and Laurel Street. The site is located directly behind the retail frontage of Laurel Street and San Carlos Avenue. It currently serves as a surface parking lot. The Redevelopment Agency also owns two parcels adjacent to Wheeler Plaza – a retail building on one side (fronting on San Carlos Avenue) with 3 stores and a 6 unit rental housing development on the other side of the parking plaza. All three parcels (totaling 2.02 acres) are being considered for this Redevelopment project.
