A power miter saw is a very handy tool to have around your house. It is used strictly for cutting very straight lines into boards that are usually no wider than 4 inches. The blade is stationary so using a power miter saw always gives you a straight edge when you cut. That is why it is the choice of professional carpenters and framers. Set the power miter saw on a flat surface like the floor, or a table that is wide enough to accommodate the entire base of the saw. If you set it on a table, make sure that the electric cords are out of the way so you don’t trip on them and drag the saw to the floor. Plug in the power miter saw to an electrical outlet. Most models run from a standard wall outlet, very few (if any) require an industrial outlet). Lift the power saw blade into the upright position.
