Hydraulic gear pumps have two gears meshed together and sealed inside a case. Usually, the gears meet together in the middle, although there are other possible layouts. At one end, there is an inlet valve and at the other end an outlet valve. Hydraulic Gear Pump at Work The hydraulic gear pump is attached to a diesel or gasoline motor, which provides power to turn it. The gears turn in opposite directions, each pushing fluid around the outside of the case from the inlet valve to the outlet valve. Because they mesh in the middle, the gears don’t carry fluid back in the other direction but continuously move fluid towa
