German Shepherds, officially known as the German Shepherd Dog (GSD) and sometimes referred to as Alsatians, are medium-sized dogs originally bred to control sheep. The product of fierce selective breeding, German Shepherds are one of the most registered breeds in the world. Some statistics claim that German Shepherds are responsible for the most random bitings of any other dog breed. Furthermore, studies have shown that German Shepherds are far more likely to attack humans than any other dog, and their attacks are responsible for the majority of dog bite injuries that require medical attention.
