What is KAIROS, anyway?
KAIROS is a social justice organization of Canadian churches and religious organizations. In 2001 KAIROS was created out of eleven church-based coalitions. The coalitions worked on many different issues of social justice from a faith perspective. Forming KAIROS brought all this work together “under the same roof”, enabling the work to be done on a number of different issues in a collaborative way. KAIROS has eleven member churches and church organizations (click here for a full list). Our work would not be possible without a web of relationships that includes Southern (“Third World”) partners, Indigenous and francophone partners, other civil society groups, and our cross-Canada community based network. KAIROS partners with different organizations and communities to work on issues of ecological justice, solidarity in Canada, human rights and trade and grassroots action for global justice grounded in local communities.
