What is the Function of Lysosomes?
The function of lysosomes in part can be compared to the enzymes in a human’s digestive system. Lysosomes are spherical, membrane-encapsulated organelles found in cells that contain enzymes. These enzymes or acid hydrolases are needed to breakup, digest, or degrade many types of substances that can include waste or obsolete matter and damaged organelles.
