How Do You Read Wine Sediment Fortunes?
The origin of wine sediment reading, also known as oenomancy, is rooted in the ancient art or reading tealeaves and coffee grounds. It is believed that wine sediment fortune telling began in Rome and it is a time-honored method of divination used to predict the future. Begin with the right wine. Wine sediments cannot be found in every bottle of wine. Look for unfiltered red wines, or older more carefully made wines. The sediment is actually created from the breaking down of tannins and pigment as the wine ages. Shake up the bottle a little bit before you open it to redistribute the sediment, which settles on the bottom if undisturbed. Allow the wine to breathe, and then pour into a glass of your choice.
