What Do the MPAA Ratings Mean?Answer: The Rating Board (CARA) which determines movie ratings operates under the MPAA and the National Association of Theater Owners (NATO) and is comprised of parents who view the movie, discuss it, and then vote on the appropriate rating. The Board members consider many topic and content elements in their ratings decisions, however, the MPAA does provide a ratings guideline explaining the meaning and acceptable or unacceptable content elements for each rating: G (General Audiences-All Ages Admitted): This is a film which contains nothing in theme, language, nudity and sex, violence, etc. which would, in the view of the Rating Board, be offensive to parents whose younger children view the film.
