What Are Apricot Kernels?
Apricot Kernels come from the seed of the apricot fruit. They kernels are bitter to taste but are very nutritious. They contain a compound called amygdaline, also known as vitamin B17. Apricot kernels are also called bitter almonds or apricot almonds. They are known to have anti cancer properties. The fruit is originally supposed to have come from Armenia where it was cultivated long ago. Its natural habitat is Northern China and the Himalayan regions and parts of temperate Asia. It was introduced into England from Italy. The fruit itself is a good source of iron, potassium and phosphorus.
