How Do You Wire An Outdoor Outlet?
Installing an outdoor outlet will not only help eliminate the need for dragging those long extension cords through the yard, but give you access to the electricity you need for yard equipment or late-night gatherings. Install a wall mount or recessed outlet box, depending your preference. Make sure the outlet kit is rated for outdoor use, to help keep the rain and moisture away from the circuits. Installing a GFCI outlet will also add another layer of protection against any overloads or shorts in the circuit. Locate an indoor outlet close to the area where you will be installing the outdoor outlet. Turn the power off to this outlet at the main circuit panel. Remove the screw in the center of the outlet cover, using the screwdriver, and set the outlet cover and screw aside.
