NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship Points System (rev. 2) The top 12 drivers after the Richmond (Chevy Rock & Roll 400) race are reset to 5000. Then 10 bonus points are added for each win by that driver in the 26 races prior. Afterwards they go on as normal with the ‘Classic’ point system, where as it was prior to the Chase coming into being the 1 1st after Homestead wins. No, they race as with the full 43 car field as normal. NB This is the 2nd revision of the Chase point system. The 1st 1 had the points reset to 5000 for 1st with -5 increments for only the top 10. No bonus points were awarded under this format.
