Stringing line is one of the most important things a fisherman has to do. Poorly strung line can cause tangles and even cause a fish to escape. Losing a fish is a huge deal in tournament fishing and can mean the difference between not only winning and losing but thousands of dollars. Thus correctly stringing a reel is of the utmost importance. Read on to learn how to string a spinning reel. Remove any line already on the reel. Attach your reel to your rod so you have your set-up. Get a small bowl and fill it up halfway with water. Remove the new spool of line from its package. Poke a hole through the center of the reel and stick the pencil in the spool. Place the spool and pencil in the bowl. Pull the end of the line out of the spool and poke it through the bottom eye on the rod. The reason for the water and pencil is so the line rolls off by itself and the water helps prevent tangles by helping to attach to the reel and not move around.
