The best ones will cost you either a case of beer or a pizza, or both, depending on their taste. Software that claims to optimize your PC is usually snake oil at best. Most of them can actually slow down your system, or even worse, turn it into an expensive brick. The best way to “optimize” your PC is to find a good nerd, or a good tutorial. There are a lot of simple tricks to make windows run better, from the Startup list in MSConfig, to slimming down on the pretty crap that bloats the system. (Go into “System”, Advanced, Performance settings…click “Adjust for Best Performance” and you will see an instance increase in speed, and decrease in pretty). There are a couple of utilities I use on occasion to keep things moving smooth. WiseDisk Hard Drive cleaner is great for removing garbage files that accumulate. Avast is a quick antivirus that is free, and does not slow down your system as many other AV programs will. Also, take advantage of the windows utilities such as Defrag and Disk
