MOT test fees are set by VOSA and currently cannot be higher than £53.10 for a normal car. If your car fails the test the garage gives you a list of all the defects that have been found. If you leave the car at the garage to be repaired then the retest is free, if you take the car away to be repaired then only a partial fee can be charged for a retest.
