What is MS CryptoAPI?
In order to protect sensitive data from unauthorized viewing it needs to be disguised using special two-way techniques that allow you to encrypt and decrypt with reasonable overhead and a high level of protection. In order to send and receive messages securely you need verifiable authentication certificates that guarantee the senders/recipients identity. CryptoAPI provides applications with a programming interface and system function calls for handling encryption and digitally signature procedures within applications. Independent modules known as cryptographic service providers (CSPs) perform all cryptographic operations. The CSPs are interchangeable in the same way that hardware devices are interchangeable.
