I think you are getting safety of P2P programs like BitTorrent confused with the files that are shared through those programs. The BitTorrent program is relatively safe, but like all software that connects to the internet is susceptible to attacks. It’s like Internet Explorer it’s virus free but hackers always find a way to attack your computer through it because it has a connection to the internet. All P2P programs are connected to the internet and therefore susceptible to attacks. The contents that you download through these programs are normally full of Trojan viruses and most are illegal. I would never download any executables (programs) through P2P network. Because these files store the files in an archive format your anti virus programs many times can’t scan the files until after you installed the virus and that is too late.
