Why isn WEP enabled?
Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) is a low level security mechanism which encrypts data prior to transmission on the network. WEP requires each user and the access point to have a special code called an encryption key to communicate with each other. Distributing and managing encryption keys in a secure manner, while making communications somewhat more secure, would make the network considerably more difficult to sign on to and use. In order to make surfnride as easy as possible to sign on to and use, WEP is disabled.
