Who can use Blackboard?
Blackboard is available for use by Wayne State students, faculty, and staff, using a WSU AccessID and password. Student use depends on how the course instructor chooses to use it. It’s best to check with your instructors at the start of each semester. Faculty can use Blackboard in any way that they are comfortable — from having a syllabus and contact information online to creating a complete course along with comprehensive course materials supplemented with communication and collaboration through real-time chats, threaded discussions, class e-mail, and online file exchanges. Instructors in Blackboard can post lecture notes, handouts, grades, assignments, and much more — using text-based materials or multimedia. They can conduct live chat sessions and give online assessments. Administrative staff and faculty can create Organizations in Blackboard for community engagement and to facilitate project or group activities. Support materials and access procedures are currently being developed.
