Where is Indian Creek?
In south eastern Utah, between Moab and Monticello; on the edge of the vast Canyonlands National Park. From Moab, take the US – 191 south, after 38 miles, turn right onto the UT – 211, which is followed for 12 miles to the first climbing. The 211 turning is about 15 miles north of Monticello. When to go? Spring and autumn have the best climbing temperatures; the desert is carpeted in flowers in spring. It tends to snow in the Creek occasionally from around mid November. However climbing in the sun can be good all winter, although the nights will be long and cold. Summers are very hot. The dozens of different crags in the Creek usefully face in a variety of directions, allowing sunshine or shade to be sought depending on the temperatures. How do I get there? Fly to Denver (Colorado) or Salt Lake City from major UK airports. A car is near essential, there is no public transport to the Creek (as it is universally known to American climbers); and there are no facilities of any kind. Howeve
